ABOUT

Patrick Boaler completed his PhD in 2022 at the University of Edinburgh under the supervision of Prof. Paul Lusby, and Prof. Guy Lloyd-Jones FRS. His thesis described the application of reaction monitoring and kinetic modelling techniques to supramolecular catalysis systems based on coordination capsules. Following this, Patrick gained postdoctoral experience in NMR methodology development with Prof. Dušan Uhrín, supporting the development of SHARPER pulse sequences for applications in reaction monitoring and complex mixture analysis. Patrick then re-joined the Lloyd-Jones group, working on a mechanistic study project until joining the BPG team in 2023.

Patrick takes a special interest in the modelling of complex chemical systems, and aims to develop and apply physical-organic chemistry techniques to study fundamental mechanisms involving boron. By combining reaction monitoring with simulating speciation and kinetics, his research will facilitate the prediction and control of the multifaceted reactivity exhibited in contemporary boron chemistry.
